Lily Day World Powerlifting Championship Campaign
Hi, I'm Lily,
I embarked on my Powerlifting journey two years ago. As a dedicated lifeguard, my initial goal was to enhance my strength and overall fitness, which led me to the gym. It didn't take long for me to discover my passion for weight training – the exhilaration of stacking the bar and challenging myself to lift more. Now, I find myself in the gym twice a day, dedicating my time from 5:30 AM to 7:00 AM and then again from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM almost every day.
In early 2022, I decided to take things to the next level by joining a powerlifting club and securing a coach. By July, I was prepared for my first competition. The experience was transformative; I fell in love with the camaraderie among fellow competitors, the enthusiastic support of the crowd, and the elegant simplicity of the sport – just you and the weight, nothing else.
Following extensive training and participation in several local competitions, I felt ready to compete at the national level. This year, I achieved a remarkable feat, qualifying in the 1st place within my age and weight category. Along the way, I set four South African National records and earned the honor of being named the Junior Female Athlete of the competition. This recognition has presented me with a golden opportunity – to compete at the World Powerlifting Congress in Manchester, England, at the end of October. This is why I've created this GoFundMe page.
In South Africa, support for athletes like me is limited, especially when it comes to covering expenses such as coaching, nutrition, and travel required for elite competitions. My dream is to raise enough funds to represent my country on the world stage. Your support will not only help me fulfill my dream but also contribute to showcasing the talent and dedication of South African athletes on an international platform.

Please consider contributing to my journey as I prepare to represent South Africa at the World Powerlifting Congress. Every donation, no matter how small, brings me one step closer to my goal. Thank you for believing in me and supporting my passion for powerlifting. Together, we can make this dream a reality.
