Weideman family farm destroyed by fire Campaign

Our friends Susan and Jan Weideman are farmers in the Daniëlskuil district. During the raging fires that burned in the area from Wednesday the 20th of September till Saturday, they lost almost all of their grazing on the farm.   Jan and his father have been farming together for basically Jan's entire life.  

Jan, Susan and their 3 children live on the farm Dunroven. On Saturday the wind was just uncontrollable and the fires spread in several directions, the family was trapped in their house with the fires surrounding it completely. Before they could realise what danger they were in there were several farmers with fire fighters trying to fend off the flames that was moving towards their house. Susan recall how a fellow farmer told her that it's time to grab the most necessary items and get away, but by the time they tried to leave the smoke surrounding the house was unbearable and they where forced to go back inside. With the Grace of God their house was spared. In total they lost 5200 ha of their land that was burned to the ground. 

Their biggest need right now is funds to feed their 2 herds of cattle with small calves which they cannot move right now. Any contribution regardless of the amount will help them get through these next few months untill our rain season start and a bit of grazing will hopefully emerse.
