Empowervate Trust's core programme is the Youth Citizens Action Programme (Y-CAP) which started in 2009 under the wing of Afrika Tikkun.
In 2013, Empowervate Trust was set up as an NPO and Y-CAP moved under its umbrella.
In the past 10 years, over 36000 learners have participated in this active citizenship programme annually in over 400 schools in each of our nine provinces. We work in collaboration with the Department of Basic Education and have corporate sponsors who support us. We have two major sponsors in the corporate sector and some donations-in-kind from other sponsors.
However, in order to expand our reach and depth we need more sponsors. One way of getting involved is you can become a member of the 99 Action Club - donating R99 monthly or R1200 annually to support us over time. You can also support our Back-a-Buddy campaigns. And you can refer us to corporates looking to partner with impactful organisations to empower and uplift the next generation of active citizens.
Our vision can only be achieved when every learner in every school has been exposed to the mindset of being powerful enough to make positive changes in their schools, communities and country as a whole.
We are passionate about the future leaders in our country. Help us to nurture them.
