Friends of Vista Nova
Friends of Vista Nova was officially registered in May 2005. We raise funds to support Vista Nova School. A large number of our children come from previously disadvantaged homes and cannot affort school fees. The Education Department do not refund us these school fees and the school therefore battles to balance it's budget plus have any funds over for maintenance and building repairs.
The school has a fleet of 5 busses, including wheelchair buses that collect the children from the wider Cape Town area including the Cape Flats. The children are taken home in the afternoons after school. The upkeep of these buses are expensive and two of our buses are over 12 years old and keep breaking down. We need to replace these buses!
Vista Nova School has 17 Class Aides that the Education Department do not pay for. These Class Aides are essential in helping the children to their therapies, putting childrens splints on and off, feeding the Cerebral Palsy children, helping the children and teachers in class etc.
