Gospel Express Children's Club Outreach
GECCO is a Christian based, non-profit organisation catering for the development and upliftment of underpriviliged children of all genders, races and cultures. Our main focus is on physically challenged and visually impared children, as well as older folk who have been neglected.
For the past twenty-one years, we have been closely associated with the Ethembeni School for the Physically Challenged and Visually Impared, based at Inchanga. Most children come from impoverished backgrounds and are in wheelchairs, crutches or walkers. Others are missing limbs, or are visually impared/completely blind.
What We Do:
We meet the children at their level and aim to instil within them biblical morals and values, as well as teach basic leadership skills. We also make it a priority to teach them that they can still enjoy life, and we do this through weekend camps and outings. We've even taken some of these kids on Ziplines! To see their little faces light up brings us joy and fulfillment.
Besides working with the school, we participate in the feeding plans of orphanages, feed the aged in retirement villages and organise food parcels for widows, grannies and child-head homes. The need is beyond what we can supply! We participate in several community projects as we see fitting for our corporate focus, as uplifting the needy is always our goal.
Our Routine Events:
- Weekly minstry sessions at the school. This is where the biblical foundation is laid all year long. We also learn about each child and do what we can to support them and their specialist teachers.
- We host two camps a year, one in May and one in October. Here, we encourage them to dig deeper and develop a love for life, despite their upsetting circumstances. Their facial expressions are usually priceless!
- We also do braais, game events and shopping trips!
How You Can Get Involved:
We are always in need of assistance and could do with your help. Below are some examples of how you could be part of this community upliftment.
- Social Media Support- Camp Volunteers- Monthly Funding (Currently most monthly costs are carried by the team, around R5 000)- Once-off Donations- Project, camp or activity sponsorship (Particularly our biannual camps)- Excess Food, Clothing etc.- Spare Wheelchairs, Crutches, Walkers etc.- We are looking for a minibus for a retirement village- Transport assistance or fuel for camps, trips and call-outs- Toys, bag fillers etc.- Anything that you believe could be of assistance to disabled children, widows, the aged or those in need.
Thank you for your time and interest in what we do. God Bless You.
Kind Regards,The GECCO Team
