Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust (HACT)
Founded in 1990 and based in central Hillcrest, HACT’s geographical focus area is the semi-rural and underserved communities of the Valley of 1000 Hills region of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. These communities are currently considered one of the epicentres of the global HIV/AIDS pandemic with HIV-infection rates of up to 40% (more than double the current national average of 18%).
Here, HACT’s mission is to provide unconditional love and hope to all those impacted by HIV/AIDS - unconditional, in that our organisation helps anyone in need, regardless of their ethnicity, lifestyle or religion.
HACT’s vision is an AIDS-free South Africa and all our projects work towards this dream. Collectively our projects adopt a holistic and family-centric approach to tackling the HIV/AIDS pandemic one individual, family and community at a time.
Over 80% of our organisation’s over 10 000 direct beneficiaries per year are women and orphaned and vulnerable children.
