Human Rights Media Centre
Human Rights Media Centre (HRMC) was founded more than two decades ago in 2000.
This non-profit organisation documents and share South African narrative histories through multi-media platforms and engages in art, memory and memorial projects.
HRMC creates awareness around issues of human rights, as they affect women, youth and children, workers, refugees and asylum seekers, victims and survivors of gross human rights violations during apartheid, as well as those with visual disabilities.
The organisation seeks to hold the South African government accountable to delivering the recommendations of the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission (SATRC) by providing platforms for communities and individuals impacted by the violence of the apartheid state to share their stories for human rights awareness and education and through its membership and contribution to the South Africa Coalition for Transitional Justice.
Additionally, through the Umoja Wamama Crafters Cooperative, HRMC aims to improve the lives of marginalized of women, which involves training too.
