Support for Alessia Campaign
Hello everyone,
I wanted to update you on Alessia Tolmay, the beautiful 9-year-old girl we all know and love.
After weeks of experiencing severe back pain, which escalated dramatically when she woke up without any function in her legs. Alessia was promptly rushed to the hospital on the 6th of October for X-rays and later referred to Steve Biko in Pretoria.
After undergoing CT scans and MRI's, doctors discovered a large mass growing in her chest that was intricately connected to her spine. Alessia underwent surgery where they successfully removed part of the tumor that was attached to her spine.
The mass was sent in for testing and they confirmed that it is cancerous. She was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer.
After weeks in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Alessia was transferred to the pediatric oncology ward where she has officially started her chemo treatments. This girl is fighting two battles, not only is she actively battling cancer, but she's also fighting hard every day with intensive physiotherapy to regain full mobility in her legs.
In addition to the emotional strain, Alessia's family is also facing significant financial stress due to the mounting medical expenses. Currently, we do not have a clear picture of all the costs involved, as the hospital is still in the process of billing them, and the extent of future treatments remains uncertain.
We are reaching out to you, our supportive community, to help alleviate this financial burden. All funds raised will be used to cover Alessia's medical bills and treatment. Your generosity can make a significant difference in Alessia's journey to recovery.
Thank you from the depths of our hearts for your unwavering support during this challenging time. Your kindness and contributions mean the world to Alessia and her family.
