Rayleigh Van Der Merwe, founder of Love Hope Faith Restoring Humanity NPC, registration no. 2020/ 744561/08, is a passionate, dedicated, hardworking single mother to 2 beautiful children. Darryn who is currently in matric and top of his class and Kayla a gutsy 11yr old who was willing to sacrifice her birthday, in order for her mom to feed the community.

She currently works 6 days a week at an optometrist, while simultaneously feeding her community in Seawinds in an impoverished part of Steenberg as well as in an informal settlement in Pumlani in Lotus River, Cape Town.

She together, with some of her volunteers, manage to make pots of food & porridge as well as sandwiches which she hands out with fruit that she obtains from her sponsors, Blue Ribbon in Salt River and SA Harvest in Epping, which my husband Colin and I collect on her behalf on a weekly basis.

The problem is the dwindling supplies and donations received, resulting in her having to purchase additional supplies in order to keep the feeding scheme open and operational.

She is in desperate need of additional funding and sponsors to help her in her quest to be the shining light in her desperate community, who would be placed in dire straights, should she be forced to close down the kitchen.

I met Rayleigh through her earnest plight for assistance on Facebook, I then subsequently assisted her with purchasing supplies while I was still fulltime employed. I am currently self employed and am no longer able to assist due to lack of funds. I managed to assist her with registering the NPC by donating the funds required at the time.

I believe that she has only the best intentions to assist the people who need it the most especially with the high unemployment rates currently in our communities, she just needs financial assistance to do the groundwork.
