Khaltsha Cycles aims to inspire and create cycling townships by enabling people to transform their lives and their communities through bicycling.
Bicycles are a great mode of transportation for easy mobility in and around the city. Riding one, however, is a skill that many take for granted. At KhaltshaCycles and Bike4All, we believe that being able to amble around in a bicycle, not only empowers riders to access many different places in the shortest amount of time, however, contributes to sustainable cities and living spaces as it reduces the carbon footprint.
It is a sad reality that some learners and students spend incredibly long hours on the road walking to and from school, some travelling seven (7) kilometres and more. KhaltshaCycles and Bike4All through the Schools Learn2Cycle programme seek to address this social problem by raising funds to procure 50 bicycles to help learners and students commute to and from school. Riding a bicycle to school will alleviate the pressure of having to travel long distances and drastically reduce the amount of time it takes for the learners to access schools.
Through the Learn2Cycle programme, beneficiaries will be taught how to ride bicycles on different terrains while observing road safety. This programme aims to make a positive contribution to the lives of learners from 5 different schools in Khayelitsha as well as 10 students from TSIBA Business School who will benefit greatly from bicycle donations. Each bicycle costs R2000.
How can you help? By donating from as little as R100 towards a Bike4All Bicycle and help change the lives of 50 learners and students.
Our ultimate goal is to have taught 200 beneficiaries how to ride a bicycle safely as well as use it as a means of commuting to and from school by 2020
