National Children's Theatre
The National Children’s Theatre, which is run by the National Children’s Theatre Trust is a registered Non-Profit Organization with Section 18A Status. Our Auditors are KPMG and all financial requirements are up to date and available for perusal at your request.
The National Children’s Theatre has been in existence for over 70 years, and has grown into the busiest and most successful children’s theatres in South Africa. Our success grew out of the Johannesburg Youth Theatre, established by Joyce Levinsohn, more than thirty years ago. Today, we occupy two valuable heritage houses in central Johannesburg, on long lease from the Johannesburg City Council.
- The Ridgehold houses a fully equipped professional theatre, which seats over 100 people as well as the administration staff.
- The Wynnstay houses a black box theatre which seats 70 guests. Both houses have many rooms currently being utilized for rehearsal, lectures, workshops, holiday camps, children’s library, as well as the storage for costumes and sets.
Each year, NCT reaches thousands of children from disadvantaged communities through theatre productions, workshops and holiday camps. The Theatre spends between R200 000 to R300 000 per year on free tickets to help transform lives, stimulate imagination, and introduce ideas of careers in theatre including acting, artistic and technical fields).
We are currently looking for a sponsor to the amount of R2 000 which will cover our annual fundraising event, "Sunday Funday which is being held this Saturday, 11th March 2018 from 10 am until 2 pm.
