Nico Join UN ECOSOC Forum Campaign
Good day world!
My name is Nico Pampier (24) from a small town in the West Coast called Velddrif in South Africa and I am a current student specialising in Adult Community Education and Training at the University of Cape Town. I am delighted to announce that I have been selected to attend the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum in New York City from the 16-18 of April 2024.
The ECOSOC Youth Forum is a United Nations body that focuses on advancing social and economic development. The organization works to promote sustainable development, reduce poverty, and improve the lives of people around the world. It is also a key platform for youth participation in the work of the United Nations. It gives young people a voice in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Youth Forum also gathers young people to share their recommendations and innovative ideas in preparation for the Summit of the Future, to be held under the auspices of the General Assembly, in September 2023.
Delegates are responsible for funding their own cost to this conference, hence the plea for a generous donation. The overall cost of this trip is R60 000.00 = $ 3 210.25 which include the following
- Transport (Flights) ($2 377, 00)
- Airbnb (10min walk from UN HQ) ($899)
- Transport (from airport - airbnb) ($300)
- Food ($400) *not allowed to cook in the airbnb
I will try my best to cover some of the cost, by finding extra ways to generate funds.
No amount is too big or small, I appreciate the leap of faith and the quantum generous donations.
I am currently a volunteer member of several UN civili societies and major groups, I have served in these memberships and provided a great stand and views on African more particularly South African youth. These civil societies and major groups includes, UNESCO's Global Youth Community, UNHCR Young Champions for Refugees, United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth, UNA South Africa SDG Education Director at UCT, not only has these platforms provided me with great knowledge and insight on multilateralism, but in these spaces there is always a lack of young South African youth and I want to make leverage of my enthusiasm, dedication and commitment to go ahead and pave a way from those that is still yet to come after me.
Thanks for your kindness and taking your time to donate. I am hoping to represent my country and make all the young people proud as we are a key stakeholder in the future we want to create. Maya Angelo once said 'If you going to make a life, leave a legacy. Make a mark on the world that cannot be erased' and I intend to do so with and for every young person of South Africa.
