Poort Community Safety NPC
Poort Community Safety (PCS) has only two objectives: safety and security.
Our community is drug invested, children are being abducted and there is no hope or trust in the police who turn a blind eye on most activities. Crime stats as received by reliable sources from head office are being manipulated by the Eersterust Police, creating the impression of low or no crime.
Eersterust has about 70 000 residents being manned by a mere team of 20 police officers and 10 on each shift. Their hands are tight, most of them corrupt and leaves no room for a better and improved community. Elderly people are being robbed by local taxis and the list goes on and on not forgetting gang violence.
I was on holiday during the month of June last year and read about our kids being abducted by foreigners on Facebook. It fuelled me immediately as I had daugthers at home. The Monday I started posting messages and invite people to join in and by the Friday, we called a public meeting inviting the Councillor, Police, CPFand Stakeholders. We received attendance and a mandate of about 1000 people.
The real work begun and stats were drastically and crime physically dropped in numbers as children were reunited and perpetrators arrested.
Our initiative slowed down due to lack of funding and resources and finally came to a standstill.
We starred a membership fee contribution and set a target of R100 000 which was met with great disappointment of of R5000 raised.
Our community has raised the best of lawyers, doctors, magistrates and the likes and if crime is not manned or irredicated it will continue for years to come.
I trust that the above would be taken into consideration when a decision is made.
Any form of assistance would be highly appreciated.
