Young Entrepreneurs Pocket Money Market
The Young Entrepreneurs Pocket Money Market (YEPMM) teaches business skills to budding young entrepreneurs to help grow successful future adults. Run at least twice a month, YEPMM hosts markets across Cape Town to give children up to 16 years old a chance to EARN, LEARN and HAVE FUN and backs this up with free business workshops run throughout the school holidays.
Project founder Linda Wilson is passionate about teaching and helping to combat unemployment. Yet she runs the project alone and needs your help.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Between 30 and 50 children trade and busk at each market, where they earn income and learn important business skills. Close to 300 children have been supported through YEPMM over the past three years, and many depend on every rand earned. Some children have even gone on to supply products for export and sale in retail shops.
For a third of the young traders, there is no family support and they need start up assistance. For single mom Linda, the pressure of running the project alone means she needs to find ways of supporting them, with training, transport and food at events as well as start-up funding for their businesses.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Having used all her available cash to get her private car back on the road, she urgently needs financial support to help with her running costs. She also desperately needs a reliable car to transport children and their goods to market.
Help give the Pocket Money Market wings to fly. Any donation, large or small, will help grow these budding young entrepreneurs and keep Linda on the road.
