Period NYFA Film Thesis Campaign

My name is Theo Mars, an emerging South African filmmaker currently pursuing my BFA in Filmmaking at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles.

As I approach the culmination of my academic journey, I am excited to share details about my upcoming thesis project — a short film that aims to make a significant impact in the festival circuit. Scheduled for production on November 10, this film, entitled "Period.," boasts an approximate runtime of 1015 minutes.

"Period." is a bold satirical dark comedy set in the near future. The narrative revolves around a group of women who decide to protest a seemingly pro-feminist new world order by shooting up a courthouse with period blood. It’s an incredibly provocative and whacky concept that deals with humanism from a feminist lens, a few thematic ideals that I’ve been obsessed with as a budding South African filmmaker.
