South African Deaf Rugby Association
The South African Deaf Rugby Association (SADRA) is an associate member of the South African Rugby Union (SARU), World Deaf Rugby (WDR), SA Deaf Sports Federation, and a registered PBO and NPO.Β
Their primary purpose is to support and create opportunities for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (HOH) boys, girls, men, and women to have the chance to play rugby at a provincial and international level. This year, they traveled to Argentina for the World Deaf Sevens Championships, where they placed fourth, with the bonus of their players receiving national colors for the first time.Β
They also competed in the Joz1 10s 2023, the offshoot from the Cape Town 10s and brainchild of Robbie Fleck & Bob Skinstad, where they were the first Deaf team globally to play in a hearing competition.
