South African Youth Choir
The internationally acclaimed South African Youth Choir (SAYC) is one of the most exciting choral projects in the world today. Since its inception in 2005, the SAYC has showcased its vast abilities on both local and international platform, entertaining a variety of audiences across the globe. Under the direction of Phil Robinson, who took over the reigns as conductor in 2013, the choir has been awarded “Best Youth Choir” at the prestigious ATKV Animato International Choral Competition in 2014 and 2015 and “Best Regional Choir 19 Years & Younger” at the Tygerberg International Eisteddfod.
The Choir has also positioned itself as one of the most sought-after performance choirs in the country and regularly performs and records with various local and international artists.The choir does not only promote a unique musical product of international standard, but also endorses raw and exceptional South African youth talent.
The Choir currently consists of 54 high school learners and students between the ages of 13 - 22 years from all over South Africa and representing the diverse cultures of this beautiful country. In the true spirit of UBUNTU, the SAYC is a human project, a celebration of unity within cultural diversity.
