Special Spectacles for 10 year old boy Campaign

Hi Everybody,

Our son turned 10 this year and has been wearing Spectacles since he was 3 years old. He was always standing directly in front of the Television when watching a story and even putting his face so close to anything in his hand that he wanted to have a look at. We took him to test his eyes and the lady told us boys usually lose their attention that's why they get so close to watch or see something - that gave us a bit of comfort but when they did the tests they saw that his eyesight was not normal for his age and referred him to another eye specialist, we took him and they examined his eyes - I'm not sure what all the medical terms are but his eye balls shapes are not normal, his sight was bad and he got his first glasses. We took him every year after that and each time he got a new pair of spectacles. We re-located from JHB to Bloemfontein in 2017, we took him in Bloemfontein for his eye tests and then every 2nd year after that, by the 2nd time we took him they told us there is something wrong and told us we should take him to a Ophthalmologist. We were referred to a professor. The professor explained that there is something growing in his eyes (I cannot remember the medical term) and as this grew his sight got worse. On the 3rd of March 2021 he had his eyes operated on, they used laser to remove the growths. We went back for the check up and his eyes did not worsen at first.

We took him for his yearly eye tests after all this and it worsened a bit with every time we took him– both his eyesight count is in a minus currently.

When we took him this month for his Checkup, we were told the following; 

They prefer not to use the Spectacles he is currently using anymore. The spectacles are not "equipped" for his eyes anymore, the current spectacles are only focusing on his main focus points in his eyes meaning the small focus points are not focusing and because of that his eye’s reaction is to grow, and when the eyes grow the main focus point moves back further and further away causing his eyes to weaken which can initially cause blindness. 

The spectacles they prescribed now has a lot of focus points in the lenses which gives focus to the main focus points and all the small focus points in his eyes meaning there is a very small chance of his eyes weakening.

Herewith I am sincerely asking for any donations that can go towards our son’s outstanding medical bills and the spectacles he so badly is in need of. Thank you in advance for making a difference.
