SOUTH COAST HAND IN HAND CRAFT GROUP
The South Coast Hand-in-Hand Craft Group wants to create a safe environment where adults with Intellectual Disabilities can be exposed to different craft activities, earn a revenue from their craft and have a meaningful interaction with peers.
- A place where they can learn new skills that will enrich their lives, that will increase their self-confidence and create more oportunities for socializing with their community.
- A place where the community will be exposed to individuals with special needs, to brake down barriers and show the community that a person with ID can learn and live a productive life.
This group is open to anyone in the community who wishes to become a volunteer or who seeks a place of acceptance for a disabled family member (no discrimination against religion, race, culture).
In the last 3 months, we have been organizing 12 Craft sessions and 11 Masterchef sessions at the rate of 2 sessions/week. Our participants number are steadily growing. The long term vision is to have our own premises where we can expand to teach all types of craft skills on a daily basis, including a coffee shopwhere training will be given to our Special Needs Adults and where parents, caregivers and the community can meet and socialize.
