Through its verious quality programmes, SCH, offers support and care to the most vulnerable in the UGU District of KZN. The programmes are as follows: Care and support for patients and their families living cancer, TB/MDR TB HIV/AIDS and Motor-Neuron Disease - the care and support takes place either at the patient's home or at our inpatient unit. Professional psychosocial interventions for grief and bereavement as well as trauma. Cancer screening takes place on the hospice site as well as through our mobile clinic off site we focus especially on conducting papsmears on disadvantaged women - early detection saves lives. Occupational therapy for patients. We also are registered CCMDD site for the distribution of medicines to government patients. Three focus areas for children and youth - #Yazi (youth in the know) outreaches on sexual health, test and treat at TVET colleges, resilience memory book memory box workshops for children and youth who have unresolved grief and trauma issues. Training is provided to community members through our dedicated training centre on site that offer Home based care, HIV counseling and Introduction to Palliative care courses. In service training for staff is also providing in various topics, such as infection control and communication. TB screening is done for all our patients and staff and adhrence counseling. Holistic care is given through our interdisciplinary team accross all our programmes.
