Evan Almighty DMD Warrior Campaign
Our eldest Son Evan was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular dystrophy 3 years ago.Duchenne muscular dystrophy or DMD is passed down from a mother to a son. A carrier has a 50/50 % chance of passing it on to a son.
DMD belongs to a group of rare genetic disorders, known as dystrophinopathies, that are caused by mutations of the dystrophin gene.
DMD is characterized by progressive degeneration and weakness of the body's voluntary muscles, primarily the skeletal muscles that control movement.
Being a muscle disease it also affects the muscles in the rib cage so often breathing is affected. This is characterized by Sleep Apnea. Evan had a sleep study done by his pulmonologist this year and he is experiencing thia condition.
We are in need of assistance.
Our Medical aid has paid a big amount towards Evan's BiPap machine but we have a shortfall of R7500. We would be so grateful if we could raise this money through Back-a- Buddy.
