Triumphant Global Care

I'm sad and touched right now by the story of 8-year-old Rethabile and her grandmother Gogo Sphiwe Thembi Makhathini Aged 53. Gogo Sphiwe who is originally from Meva Mhlophe KZN. Her 23-year-old daughter left her with Rethabile and ran away, and left Gogo to fend for herself and Rethabile. Gogo has been living in Johannesburg settlement for over 10 years. Sadly, 4 years ago her shack was gutted down by fire and she had to resort to turning plastics and cloths over poles into a ‘home’ for herself and 8-year-old Rethabile.

Their make shift, unlockable ‘home’ is located at the edge of a bush where snakes find to be a warm place to hide and recently Gogo was bitten by a snake there while sleeping at night. Sadly, strangers have easy access into this unsafe shack at the edge of the bush and this painfully has led Gogo to being attacked and physically violated at night countless times (we fear for the little girl’s safety). Rethabile does not have a birth certificate so she cannot even get Sassa grant to assist with her upkeep or school which leaves Gogo who is not working to struggle to find food to put on the table for the child.

We believe together we can make a difference and build a ‘LOCKABLE SAFE HOME FOR RETHABILE’S SAFETY’.

OUR AIMTO REPLACE THE CURRENTLY EXISTING SHELTER WITH A LOCKABLE TIN SHACK OR WENDY HOUSE WITH TWO BEDROOMS, LOUNGE AND KITCHEN AREA. Our budget for this is R10,550

Please join in, let's put our hands together and make someone smile on Mandela day. Let Rethabile remember the 18th of July 2019 as the day she locked the door as she went to bed.

TOGETHER CAN DO IT GUYS.
