The Ar(t)chive NPC
The Ar(t)chive NPC is the only entity on the African continent archiving South African Contemporary Dance and Physical Performance. We make archival materials such as videos, programmes, photographs, and clippings available to researchers, students, journalists, writers and artists. We are actively creating a dance heritage and legacy that would otherwise be lost. This is a history rich with nuances on how our country survived Apartheid and moved towards democracy, it is a history that tells the story of artist-activists changing the face of this country through dance. Our office and storeroom are currently hosted by the WITS School of Arts, where we have been based since 2012. The archive is not funded by the University or Government. This archive is currently run completely on volunteerism and we need your help to ensure continuity.
