Thrive Social Development
Thrive Social Development is a community-based organisation established in the community of Bonteheuwel in 2018. The organisation was birthed through a passionate group of young adults who atteanded the same church. Upon increased reflection concerning faith and practice it became clear that the true manner in which to live out their beliefs was to be of greater service to those experiencing the social difficulties incurred through historical inequality.
Thus far, Thrive has had the privilege of impacting the lives of hundreds of residents in the community of Bonteheuwel through the feeding scheme project which runs weekly every Friday and Sunday. Apart from the success of the feeding scheme Thrive Social Development was able to contribute immensely to the development of a young soccer player from Bonteheuwel. Through the dedication of the passionate team at Thrive coupled with the generosity of many others, we were able to raise the funds required for the youngster to join his team mates to compete in a Dubai-based soccer tournament in April 2019.
As a community-based organisation, Social Justice serves as a key motivating factor and driving force behind the endeavors of Thrive Social Development. Part of serving the community is educating and providing guidance to members of our younger generation, in particular, about matters pertaining to Justice, awakening them to the present injustices of our modern society, and ultimately inspiring them to perform their unique role in the continued striving for the equality and freedom we all seek.
For this reason Thrive Social Development will be running a Social Justice and Leadership Camp aimed at youths aged between 16 and 19 years from 13 to 15 December 2019 at the De Hoop Nature Reserve courtesy of Cape Nature.
As an organisation Thrive remains fully cognitive of the responsibility we have in affording our next generation of leaders an experience that will not only be educational, but also holistically beneficial to their overall development and growth.
It is with this goal in mind that we realise our inability to achieve this without the financial backing necessary for covering the costs of what will no doubt be a great experience for these teens.
We would therefore welcome and appreciate any form of monetary assistance that would aid us in this regard.
