Toll House Montagu Pass

A few kilometers outside of George in the Western Cape, where the Montagu Pass meets three other Passes (Outeniqua, Cradock, Railway, Montagu), you will find a monument known simply as the Toll House. It has survived an industrial revolution and 2 world wars but sadly not the recent fires in George during October 2018.  The Toll House was destroyed except for its walls and doors. This once beautiful monument, has seen countless wagons laden with merchandise going to the dry Karoo and wagons with families that are eager to see the ocean on the other side of the mountain. It has stood on that corner of the small dirt road going over the Outeniqua Mountains since 1847 with the only chimney that has smoke coming out of it for many kilometers.  The chimney is still there and we would like to rebuild the Toll House around it.We need your support to bring this beauty back to her true glory for generations more to enjoy.
