The Period Project South Africa NPC
The Period Project South Africa is a non profit company which strives to Stop the Cycle of Poverty by ensuring that our young women at school are able to complete their education, especially in their final year of high school, without it being interrupted by a PERIOD
This NPC has been in existence since 2013 but officially only took off in July of 2015 with the founder's 50th birthday when she requested sanitary towels as gifts to donate to 50 young women in Grade 12 of 2016.
To date, with the many donations in the form of sanitary towels or cash received from various, friends, family, corporates, marathons, biker event and a number of youth or women's day events, more than 2000 young women across the Western Cape Province and as far afield as Willowmore in the Eastern Cape have each received a year's supply of sanitary towels.
This NPC also played a major role in having VAT eliminated from some feminine products (sanitary towels in particular).
It also received the credit from Masibambisane High School in Delt (a very impoverished area in the Western Cape) for the most improved pass rate. They went from a Grade 12 pass rate of 48% to 79.1% for their 2018 results. They said that if it was not for the support they received from this NPC their young women would not have attended school as they did.
The Period Project South Africa NPC relies completely on the support it receives and believes that when we ensure that our young women are able to complete their education we will be able to Stop the Cycle of Poverty - PERIOD
