Tsholophelo Baby Sanctuary
Tsholofelo Baby Sanctuary, established in November 2005, is an organization that cares for abandoned or orphaned young children and babies.
We are a Place of Safety for abandoned, orphaned and neglected babies and children in the Roodepoort area. We will accept whichever babies God brings to us and... we will not discriminate on the basis of race, disease, or any other defect unless the facilitating team sincerely believes that there is a place where a particular child can be better looked after. children who are placed with us remain with us until they are able to be adopted, returned to their families or placed with long-term foster families. Our ultimate goal is to find loving, God-fearing homes for these children. We are hoping to do this largely by word of mouth among friends and by making ourselves known in churches and societies in our area. Children who are not adopted will be brought up with us in the best simulation of a “normal” Christian home that we are able to provide.Aside from providing a safe and loving environment, Tsholofelo also seeks to find adoptive families for the children in their care. Based in Roodepoort, Johannesburg, Tsholofelo operates on the kind donations of individuals, companies and a local Church. The children are referred to the sanctuary by government hospitals, community clinics and social workers.Tsholofelo is committed to caring for all children regardless of HIV status, and will provide a home for HIV positive children for the rest of their lives if need be. This is due to the fact that the chance of successful adoption is unfortunately reduced with HIV positive children. In the three years Tsholofelo has been operational, it has helped almost 40 children. Most of the children at Tsholofelo are below the age of four years. The children are cared for by the house mother and five other permanent staff. It also has local and international volunteers that come to bless the children with their time and affection.
