Ukama Community Foundation
Ukama Community Foundation was started in 2013 to uplift and brighten the lives of township kids. We supply and equip 7 informal creches to run feeding schemes for over 400 children per day in Vrygrond, Western Cape. We do this through help from private donors and community businesses. Our main aim is to assist in Early Childhood Learning by ensuring the children are in a safe environment with their basic needs met. To this end we ensure food for breakfast and lunch every day, kitchen equipment, blankets and clothing where we can. We run a program supplying learning equipment such as books, worksheets and volunteers who can assist with teaching programs.
We have a number of other organisations we support as follows:
GirlPride- an organisation for supporting Teen Moms In Masiphumelele
Mothers Unite- An after-school program for children living in gang infested Lavender Hill
True North- An NPO regulating and assisting all child-care facilities in Vrygrond/ Capricorn and Overcome Village.
The Hebron Project- An NPO assisting children and families in the Wetlands of Masiphumelele
