Umoja Development Foundation
The charity was founded with the aim to assist matriculates children from the vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers community that can not access education due to financial difficulties; and can not access the limited scholarships opportunities merely for them being refugees or migrants as most of the available bursaries or scholarships are reserved to SA Citizen.
There is no question that refugees and asylum seekers in South Africa often have difficulties accessing social assistance, health care and housing because current legislation does not clearly define the socio-economic rights they should enjoy and the right to education is unwell denied.
Our main mandate is the raise funds in order to provide financially and technically support to needy and vulnerable children and active youth of refugees communities to access and attain tertiary education at South Africa institutions, to raise social awareness for self-fulfilment and social integration among other initiatives.
Through strategic partnerships with its members, volunteers, sponsors, other non-profit organizations, international NGOs, government bodies and tertiary institutions, we aim to provide on-going awareness and opportunities to advance the interests and meet the needs of this vulnerable community through various initiatives such as education, community and social development programs.
