My battle against Pulmonary Hypertension Campaign

Hello, my name is Widaad Lawrence. I'm reaching out today, not just on my own behalf, but with a heart full of hope, seeking financial assistance to cover my medical bills and treatment.

In 2020, just three months after giving birth to my son, life took an unexpected turn. What initially seemed like weight gain and anxiety turned into a relentless battle spanning three years. I faced heart failure, grappled with yellow jaundice, and endured a liver functioning at only 22%. During this time, I received the daunting news that my kidneys were failing. Despite the relentless challenges, I fought on.

In November 2022, I was referred to Groote Schuur Hospital, where I underwent a battery of tests, including x-rays, blood tests, scans, CT scans, ultrasounds, MRIs, and heart readings (echos), all in a single day. Shortly thereafter, I was admitted to the hospital in January 2023 for a comprehensive heart study. The results were disheartening, as I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension—a rare lung disease that affects the arteries in the lungs and the right side of the heart. It's a unique and formidable battle, as there is no known cure, and the available treatments don't suit everyone.

My days have become increasingly challenging, and I often find myself unable to care for my beloved son. Simple tasks like walking, playing, or dressing him have become insurmountable obstacles due to the rapid progression of my illness. I face weeks where hospital visits are a regular occurrence, thanks to my severely compromised immune system and dropping blood levels. There are days when even eating becomes an impossibility. Living with Pulmonary Hypertension means a constantly changing schedule, filled with blood tests, hospital appointments, consultations, mountains of paperwork, and overwhelming fears.

Yet, I hold on to hope, knowing that I will triumph over Pulmonary Hypertension. This disease has touched every aspect of my life, rendering me unable to work to provide for my son and myself. That's why I humbly reach out, setting aside any remnants of pride I may have, to request your financial support. Every contribution, no matter how small, is deeply appreciated. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

So, here's where I stand today. If you've read this far, I'm immensely grateful for your time and support. I hope and pray that you and your loved ones are spared from the grasp of this dreadful illness. I am prepared to navigate these uncharted waters and wage my battle against Pulmonary Hypertension.

Donations, hugs, and prayers—all are welcomed with open arms. I love you all, and together, let's conquer this challenge.
