Kyte Dental Work Fundraiser Campaign

 

My name is Willem Esterhuyse and my partner’s name is Kyte Dlamini. We have been together for almost 6 years and we’ve been absolutely adoring spending our lives together.

 

The only problem is that we don’t really have a lot of money to properly take care of ourselves. Kyte was diagnosed with Epilepsy in 2018/2019 and has been suffering with it since then. Doctors have tried figuring out what the cause or triggers could be since then and they never seem to find anything in his brain to indicate this. He even gets seizures while being on medication to prevent it. 

 

However, we have recently found a possible reason for this. He’s had poor dental health for a long time for a few reasons. Neglect, mental health issues, and now with his seizures causing his jaw to lock and tense up, it leaves him with broken or cracked teeth post-seizure. He is constantly in an immense amount of pain around his mouth and jaw, to the point where it is a daily thing that he’s just grown accustomed to.

 

He’s recently been struggling with a recurring abscess on the right side of his face, so we’ve decided to take a trip to a dentist to get advice on what we need to do to fix it. Turns out he has abscesses lining his whole lower jaw and most of his teeth are beyond repair. The dentist said that she believes the only solution is to remove a few teeth on his upper jaw and also his entire lower jaw. Then, she gave us the option of getting dentures or implants. Implants are very very VERY expensive and we just won’t be able to get that money. 

 

However, the option of getting dentures is something Kyte has decided he’s willing to try out. At least for a few years until we are in a better financial situation where we can afford to get him implants. The dentist said that his teeth might even be linked to his seizures which are still happening even though he’s on medication for that. So, basically, it’s a vicious cycle. 

 

We have asked a few people for help with no avail. Which is why we are turning to this campaign. 

 

We ask that you please help us provide Kyte with the proper care he needs to fix his teeth and mouth - which will already fix a lot of other issues like having his immune system not constantly fixating on that part of his body, mental health and just overall quality of life. 

 

This money will be able to pay for his teeth extractions as well as the dentures that he could use to finally be able to smile in pictures without feeling self-conscious, and also just provide him with a type of relief from pain that I personally think he really deserves (I know I might be biased, but I also don’t think anybody deserves this).
