South Africa Chapter Women in Tech NPC
Women In Tech South Africa is a registered non-profit organization and a chapter of Women in Tech - Global movement®, Cape Town, Western Cape.
Our mission is to empower 5 million women and girls by the year 2030. To help us reach this goal, we aim to open a Learning Centre at Philippi Village.
The learning centre will provide disadvantaged learners access to computers, allowing them to partake in digital learning. Since the global pandemic, digital learning has become a significant part of a student's life; however, many South African students in rural areas do not have access to computers or the internet. This is the gap we aim to close.
Women in Tech South Africa, our partners, and the Phillipi Village would like to provide learners between the ages of 8 and 18 with a safe space to learn equipped with a reliable internet connection, homework support, and skills development (computer skills and coding).
The funding raised from our backabuddy crowdfunding will be used for rent costs of the facility, devices, furniture, electricity, internet, marketing, operational staff, tutors, the rota for students, snacks, and refreshments.
